SolarEdge Named a Global Cleantech 100 Company

Recognized by the Guardian and Cleantech Group as one of the World’s Most Promising Clean Technology Companies

September 9, 2009 -- SolarEdge, an innovative solar power harvesting start-up, today announced it has been named a Global Cleantech 100 company by Guardian News and Media and Cleantech Group™, LLC, providers of leading research, events and advisory services for the cleantech ecosystem. The complete list of winning companies can be found at the Guardian Online here and on the Cleantech Group Website here.

The Global Cleantech 100 is the first ever list highlighting the most promising private clean technology companies around the world. Supported by the Carbon Trust, the Global Cleantech 100 recognizes companies at the forefront of cleantech innovation offering solutions to some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.

“The first ever Global Cleantech 100 shines a spotlight on which companies and which technology areas the global innovation community is most excited about from a commercial standpoint,” said Richard Youngman, managing partner at Cleantech Group.

The final list represents the collective opinion of hundreds of leading experts from cleantech innovation and venture capital companies in EMEA, North America, India and China, combined with the specific input of an expert panel of 35, drawn from well-respected organizations such as Altira Group, Crossover Advisors, Deloitte, Emerald Technology Ventures, Google, Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers, New York Stock Exchange, NGEN Partners, Nth Power, New Enterprise Associates, Sterling Communications, Tsing Capital and Vantage Point Venture Partners.

The panel’s views were combined with insights from the Cleantech Network™, the de facto industry association of international clean technology investors, entrepreneurs, large corporations and other industry insiders. Some 3,500 companies were nominated/considered.

“It is an honor to receive this prestigious recognition,” said Guy Sella, chairman, CEO and Co-founder of SolarEdge Technologies. “It is a reflection of SolarEdge’s commitment to revolutionizing PV power harvesting and monitoring. We offer one holistic solution designed to solve all known solar system efficiency and design drawbacks—and we do so at the cost of a standard centralized inverter.”

SolarEdge received this award on the basis of its unique approach to addressing common solar performance issues, such as lost electricity production from partial shading, panel mismatch, and suboptimal module performance tracking. The SolarEdge system avoids these inherent efficiency and design problems with a three-part system comprised of a PowerBox™ smart junction box, centralized inverter, and web-based monitoring software; maximizes power generation of residential and large-scale PV sites by up to 25 percent; and reduces costs and complexities for panel manufacturers, systems integrators, installers and owners.

SolarEdge and other winners are being honored today at Cleantech Forum XXIII in Boston, September 8-10, 2009 (www.cleantech.com/bostonforum) and will be celebrated at Cleantech Forum XXIV in Delhi, October 15-16, 2009 (www.cleantech.com/delhiforum) and at the Guardian’s UK Cleantech Summit in London on November 23, 2009 (guardian.co.uk/cleantechsummit).

About SolarEdge

SolarEdge is a provider of smart, holistic PV power harvesting and monitoring solutions for maximum energy at a lower cost per watt. The company works with industry-leading partners to embed its active electronic solution directly into PV panels. Unlike centralized architectures that cannot optimize the power of each panel, only SolarEdge performs MPPT per panel while communicating across existing power lines for granular visibility and control. As a result, the SolarEdge systemic approach provides more power from any given installation, eliminates design constraints, provides complete visibility, solves all safety issues and provides anti-theft, all while reducing the cost of energy.
