Hod Hasharon, Israel and Geneva, Switzerland—June 7, 2010—PVsyst developed a new version of its popular photovoltaic system design software. The upcoming release allows the design of systems using SolarEdge PowerBoxes and inverters, enabling simple planning of systems with all the SolarEdge benefits and providing an added energy calculation of SolarEdge enabled installations.
The SolarEdge power harvesting solution includes PowerBoxes, which are module-integrated power optimizers, solar inverters and a monitoring portal. This unique end-to-end solution enables production of up to 25% more energy from PV installations, while reducing costs and complexities and increasing system safety. The SolarEdge technology allows the installation of PV systems in locations that previously were unfavorable, due for example to multiple inclinations and partial shading.
PVsyst is a software package for the sizing, simulation and data analysis of complete PV systems. It can be used to easily design and compare various systems, using several project levels. The software is designed by the Institute of Environmental Sciences (ISE) at the University of Geneva. With the upcoming version a wider variety of installations can be designed and analyzed, and the added energy of SolarEdge installations is calculated by PVsyst for easy system evaluation.
“As for several recent technological developments in the PV industry, we integrated the advanced system capabilities of the SolarEdge products into PVsyst. This will enable the PVsyst users to continue enjoying the software while expanding the design possibilities to such novel industrial products,” said André Mermoud, who manages PVsyst development at the University of Geneva.
“We are excited to have our system brought to the fingertips of the many customers of PVsyst, one of the most popular design tools,” said Lior Handelsman, VP Product Strategy and Business Development at SolarEdge. “The software easily sizes and analyzes PV installations that enjoy all the benefits of the SolarEdge technology, allowing system designers to work with an increasing number and type of sites and to provide systems with added energy.”
About PVsyst
PVsyst is a PC software package for the study, sizing, simulation and data analysis of complete PV systems. The software is oriented towards architects, engineers, and researchers, and holds very helpful education tools. It includes an extensive contextual Help, which explains in detail the procedures and the models used. It offers an ergonomic approach and several project levels.
About SolarEdge
SolarEdge provides the world's first end-to-end Distributed Solar Power Harvesting and PV Monitoring solution, allowing maximum energy production at a lower cost. The SolarEdge PowerBoxes™ are DC-DC power optimizers that perform MPPT per individual panel while monitoring performance of each panel and communicating across existing power lines. Moreover, PowerBoxes always maintain a fixed DC string voltage, allowing optimal efficiency of the SolarEdge PV inverter, which is tailor made to work with power optimizers. As a result, the SolarEdge system provides more power from any given PV system installation, eliminates design constraints, provides complete panel-level and whole-system visibility for monitoring and maintenance alerts, solves all safety hazards and provides anti-theft mechanisms, all while reducing the cost of energy. The company works with industry-leading partners to embed its active electronics directly into PV panels. SolarEdge is online at www.solaredge.com
